Appletree Day Nursery needs you, are you passionate about cooking and providing quality food? We are offering a fantastic part time opportunity for an individual to cook and provide quality, health foods for children aged between 3 month and 5 years. You will work as part of Appletree's family team, meeting the dietary requirements of the children who attend the nursery. You will need to work 7.5hrs on a Monday and the remaining hours can be discussed at interview between Tuesday and Friday. There is also the opportunity for additional hours to include cover for annual leave. Come and join our Appletree Nursery team. Your main duties will include providing a varied menu for children aged 3month to 5 years. This include breakfast, snack, lunch and tea. The kitchen team plan their menu for the children ensuring they meet the Eat Well, Start Well guidelines. You will be required to order, prep, cook and clean/clear away, ensuring you meet the environmental health standards and Ofsted requirements. Therefore ,you will require basis knowledge of dietary requirements, COSSH and have good communication skills. Food hygiene/safety certificate is a requirement of the post, however, we can train you, if you currently do not hold one. There is opportunity to teach and cook with the children and ensure the environment provides a safe and secure place for all and protect/safeguards children from harm. To undertake the principal duties of a cook, ensuring all individual needs are supported. To understand and follow the Trusts Food Safety Policy and Food Safety Codes of Practice at all times, thereby ensuring the food is stored, handled, prepared, cooked and served in such a way and under such conditions as to prevent the contamination of food To clean all the kitchen equipment, pots and pans, food cupboards, hot boxes and all associated areas in accordance with work schedules, and following safe methods of work, ensuring proper standards are maintained at all times. To monitor (stock take) & order food/consumables required each week To ensure inspection standards within the working area adhere to include Environmental Health Office (EHO) and Ofsted and actions are fulfilled. To raise any concerns noticed regarding children’s behaviour/play or any issues that may be linked to safeguarding following the nursery policy. To reflect on practice with nursery manager and colleagues making improvements for the service To comply with the COSHH To maintain a clean and tidy appearance and good personal hygiene at all times, particularly with regard to regular and thorough hand washing. To check for and report signs of pests To fulfil general office admin such as answering the telephone, using the computer and to take on extra duties and responsibilities as required by the nursery/manager To keep up to date with legislation changes and acts in line with the job role To attend regular team meetings with the Nursery Manager to discuss general Nursery Issues/training within and out of normal nursery hours. To attend regular appraisal and supervision meetings to discuss personal development with the nursery manager/deputy To fully participate in the Trust’s performance review and personal development planning process on an annual basis Undertake training as necessary in line with the development of the post and as agreed with line manager as part of the personal development planning process and team development To contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the teams in which he/she works To engage in all physical aspects of the children (I .e lifting, running, bending, sitting on the floor and small chairs) when asked to cover breaks in the play rooms. To contribute to a healthy and safe working environment by adhering to health and safety regulations and trust policy’s role, including project work, internal job rotation and absence cover within the nursery To be able to work under pressure when required
