Job Title: Cook
Place of work: Catering and food service areas under the control of Sodexo Ltd
Division: Corporate service
Reports to: Catering Lead/ GSM
Purpose of the Role: To produce meals and services at the required times to the Company’s standards, within the agreed specification and to the agreed performance, qualitative and financial targets.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Comply with all Company & client policies and statutory regulations relating to Health & Safety, safe working practices, hygiene, cleanliness, fire and COSHH. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards in your work place.
- Ensure food is prepared, produced, presented and served at the correct services times, within the Company's standards and to the agreed specification for the contract
- Plan and cost menu's to meet the food service offer specified in the contract or assist in this as required. Comply with menu planning, ordering and stock control procedures - ordering from nominated suppliers.
- Receive and check in goods against invoice for quality and quality
- Ensure that the control of raw materials and portions are to the Company's standards and that food is served at the correct temperatures.
- Ensure that all goods are quickly and correctly stored away on rotation system following the rule
‘first in, first out’ and comply with health & safety regulations.
- Ensure that all costs and expenditure are within the budgeted levels agreed between the Client and Sodexho. Control all costs such as labour, expenses, cash purchases as agreed with your line manager.
- Ensure that the Company’s administrative documentation and procedures are carried out to the
Sodexho Way Compliance Standards
- Assist at service times by serving customers
- Ensure that the areas under your control are left clean and tidy at all times and ensure cleaning rota's are in place.

- Maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the food preparation and service areas at all times.
- Ensure high standards of personal performance, hygiene, appearance and cleanliness at all times
- Communicate well and demonstrate a pleasant, polite, efficient, caring and friendly service to customers and clients in all areas of service, which Sodexho provide.
- Participate in any necessary training and team meetings as required to complete job responsibilities to the Company’s and Client’s standards e.g. health & safety, food hygiene.
- Work as a team to promote harmonious working relationships within the Sodexho team
- Assist at any special ad-hoc functions, some of which may occur outside working hours.
- Report any customer complaints or compliments and take some remedial action if at all possible.
- Report immediately any incidents of accident, fire, theft, loss, damage, unfit food, or other irregularities and take such action as may be appropriate.
- Cover in other areas during periods of holidays and sickness

Key Result Indicators:
- To deliver a consistent level of service, within the Company's standards, to the contract specification and agreed performance, qualitative and financial targets.
- Comply with Company and statutory regulations relating to safe systems of work, health & safety, hygiene, cleanliness, fire and COSHH.
- Hold Supervisory food safety certificate – Allergen safety
- To be agreed with Line Manager and attached, if appropriate, for particular location. K.P.I’s to be monitored as part of performance review and appraisal process.
Authority Levels:
- Ordering supplies from nominated suppliers.
Constraints
- Smoking only permitted in designated areas. Mobile phones must be switched off during working hours. Constraints may change from time to time, see the staff notice boards.
- During the course of his/her duties the post holder may have access to, or witness confidential information, which must NOT be divulged to an unauthorised person at any time
