Shift times: 0730hrs– 1800hrs
Main roles and responsibilities
Reporting to the Head Chef, you’ll be responsible for preparing appetising meals for our care home residents. You will need to be hard-working and reliable. It’s also crucial that you understand the challenges of catering for older, vulnerable people – some of whom may have poor appetites. You’ll work closely with your care team colleagues to address individual needs. We’ll also expect you to support and inspire your assistants in the kitchen, help your Head Chef with menu planning and maintain excellent food hygiene standards. This is a demanding role for a cook. But you will have lots of support and quality training to make a success of it.
Requirements
You are a capable, experienced cook with a cooking qualification. In addition, you are a caring person who knows the vital role mealtimes play in the lives of frail, older people. Ideally, you’ve already got some experience catering for older people in a care home or similar setting. You’re well organised and a good team player. You’re happy working closely with colleagues to make sure individual dietary needs are met.
