Job description
Job Posting – Temporary Cook
Are you an experienced cook looking to serve up more than just food? Join our team as a temporary cook and help nourish the bodies and souls of those in our Christian ministry environment. Based in a rural setting in southwest Saskatchewan, Rock Solid Refuge is a 12-month, biblically-based, live-in program for adolescents with life-controlling issues. This program encompasses spiritual, academic, and life-skills training to equip students to return to society as responsible citizens.
Rock Solid Refuge provides faith-based guidance and support for the issues teens face in a whole-life environment. For this role, we are looking for a temporary cook to provide nutritious and balanced meals and snacks for our students and staff, including planning for out-trips and events. You’ll be responsible for grocery shopping, ensuring snacks are healthy, and incorporating detoxifying foods into our daily diet. You’ll also coordinate food donations, maintain a clean kitchen, stock and prepare cleaning supplies as needed, and wash, dry, fold, and put away kitchen and Chemical Room laundry. In addition, pray for students and staff, and communicate any concerns or progress to our leadership. Other duties may be assigned, time permitting.
Most tasks for this position are completed during the regular workweek (Mon – Fri, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.); however, occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
Jonas, a Rock Solid intern, said: “These kids are people society doesn’t care about; they’ve been thrown aside. But they matter. They matter a lot.” Please view this video to get an insight into our work:
