Who we’re looking looking for
Toyota’s Model Based Development is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Modeling and Control Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to apply state-of-the-art model-based approaches to powertrain and vehicle development and contribute to Toyota’s transition to a mobility company.
Reporting to Shohei Nomura, the person in this role will support the Model Based Development department's objective to develop competitive vehicles while minimizing development.
What you’ll be doing
Develop innovative solutions to improve Powertrain control and software development efficiency.
Develop plant and controller models for HEV, PHEV, and BEV
Review literatures, attend conferences and consortiums to identify appropriate modeling techniques and approaches to make models for EVs and constituting components and systems.
Discuss with counterparts in Japan to establish and follow global modeling guidelines for plant models.
Collaborate with R&D engineers to propose new ideas, process improvements, and apply to development.
Setup and use software in the loop (SILS) environment for system optimization, calibration, and software verification.
Create detailed schedule to visualize tasks, progress and issues.
Report to management on a regular basis
What you bring
Minimum Bachelors degree in engineering
Experience with Matlab/Simulink
Experience with programming (Python/C/C++)
Understanding of IC engines, hybrid, and electric vehicle propulsion systems, xEV batteries
Fundamental understanding and modeling skills of vehicle powertrain controls.
Evidence of innovative approaches to problem solving
This position requires driving. A motor vehicle record that’s acceptable by company standards is required for this position.
