Melett Ltd, a Wabtec Company (http://www.WabtecCorp.com), are recruiting an experienced Group Financial Controller to join their team in Barnsley.
Role: Group Financial Controller
Salary: £ Competitive
Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire, S75 1HT
Hours: Monday to Friday - 8.30am - 5.00pm (40 hours per week)
Contract type: Permanent, Full-Time
Overall Purpose of Job:
The Group Financial Controller is responsible for managing the financial and accounting processes, practices and reporting for four business units within the Melett group (UK, China, Poland and US).
Key responsibilities include managing the day to day activities of the UK Finance function, monthly close process, budgeting and forecasting and working capital for the business, along with ensuring the Group is compliant with Wabtec Policy & Procedures and maintains a culture of robust and strong Financial Control.
The Group Financial Controller reports directly to the Melett Group Finance Director.
The position will directly manage 2 reports in the UK Finance function (2 x Finance Assistants), as well as indirectly manage the Finance Teams in Melett Poland and Melett China and also the relationship with the Shared Service Centre (AP & AR), based in India.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manage a team of 2 UK staff and monitor the 3 overseas business units Finance functions for all finance and accounting operations.
- Manage the relationship with the shared service centre (AP & AR), based in India.
- Develop and support the finance team to ensure best in class department.
- Produce timely and accurate monthly local management accounts to strict deadlines (3 day close, 6 day reporting) and Wabtec group reporting requirements, ensuring high quality data is reported to support decision-making and drive results.
- Consolidation of local Melett results and reporting into Wabtec finanical reporting system (HFM).
- Support the Group FD in preparing and co-ordinating financial plans, budgets and monthly forecasts.
- Monitor and communicate cashflow of the business.
- Create and develop business financial models and management information reports to help support decision making and provide clear visiblity over financial challenges facing the business.
- Prepare incisive commentaries and variance analyses.
- Ensure robust financial control over financial transactions and reporting.
- Act as Finance Business Partner for the wider Senior Management Team.
- Manage all accounting ledgers within the department, including general ledger, asset ledger, inventory, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cost accounting.
- Prepare regulatory reporting including annual statutory accounts, taxation computations etc.
- Ensure adherence to internal financial control and Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- External and internal audit liaison, including management of the annual audit requirements and deliverables.
- Oversee treasury, banking, taxation and VAT aspects at a local level.
- Oversee credit control function, ensuring overdue balances are actioned and kept to a minimum.
- Build strong relationships with the Wider Wabtec community.
- Lead continuous improvement and lean culture within Finance function.
- Ad hoc project work.
- Systems implementation.
Qualifications:
Fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
Skills & Experience:
Essential
- Minimum of 2 years post qualified financial experince within a manufacturing or similar environment.
- Experience of International Accounting Standards, and Sarbanes Oxley Compliance.
- Ability to create and develop financial models, sensitivity analyses and business scorecards.
- Ability to interrogate and summarise data.
- Good judgement and decision-making skills.
- Problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate with cross-functional areas in the business and good presentation skills.
- Excellent IT skills and ERP systems experience.
- Outstanding Excel and Powerpoint skills.
- Of a curious mindset, a strategic thinker and good business acumen.
- Prior experience of Continuous Improvement/ Lean would be a definite advantage. Promotes business improvement and change.
- Interpersonal and supervisory skills, with emotional competency, the ability to coach, develop and motivate employees and evaluate team performance and provide feedback.
- Deals well with ambiguity, can comfortably handle risk and uncertainty.
Desirable
- Multi site/multi country/multi currency experience.
- Previous responsibility for International Group of Companies.
- Proficient in US GAAP.
- Prior experience of implementing a new business system highly desirable.
