Job Role
Support the Head of Finance in all financial aspects of the business. This will be achieved by the hands on management of the finance team, production of accurate and timely financial information and reports, improving and maintaining financial controls and processes, and ensuring that high standards are maintained. The overall aim being that financial integrity is maintained at all times.
Responsibilities
- Production and review of statutory and monthly management accounts
- Producing and monitoring corporate and departmental budget
- Production and distribution of Management and Sales reporting
- Strategic relationship management with visibility across the business (networks and alliances; mergers, acquisitions and disposals).
- Responsibility for cash flow management and forecasting
- Managing foreign currency
- Management of annual statutory audit process and completion
- Driving the department forward improving processes and IT
- Driving the business forward, improving yearly performance
- Monitoring of debtors with credit control team and in line with insurance policy
- Month-end close process: issuing timely and accurate monthly management accounts and monthly sales and gross margin reports to deadlines
- Delivering monthly profit & loss and balance sheet commentary including variance to budget
- Ensuring that all balance sheet reconciliations are prepared, reviewed and maintained
- Ensuring annual statutory reporting and audit information is prepared and completed in an accurate and timely manner
- Managing the annual audit process and tax compliance
- Developing and maintaining robust financial controls, improving systems and processes
- Management of the annual budgeting process
- Completion and submission of statutory returns as required
- Preparation of weekly/monthly KPI’s
- Preparation of ad-hoc reports as required by the business
- Supervise, organise, advise, motivate and engage the team, specifically undertaking: management of performance, discipline and grievance, timekeeping and absence management
- Recruit, develop and manage the department to enhance capabilities and support personal growth
Qualifications
- Professional accounting qualification with significant post-qualification experience
- Professionally qualified (ACA / ACCA /ACMA) with a strong academic record
- In-depth experience of managing budgets and financial controls
- Previous experience of managing a team with excellent people management skills
- Significant experience working at Financial Controller level
- Strong commercial acumen, integrity and credibility
- Able to operate effectively in a high volume and fast paced engineering manufacturing operation
- Experience of working in an environment which conforms to management standards, such as ISO9001.
- Experience of a procure to pay system.
- Ability to write queries/reports using SQL
