Job description

We have a vacancy for a Hire Controller to join our team of experts offering support and assistance over the phone to our customers to help them decide which of our products will be most suitable for the task at hand.

The hours of the role are Monday to Friday 7.30am - 5pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break, 45 hours a week.

Previous experience in the industry is not essential as full training and support will be given.

Based at our Mechanical & Engineering division at Stacey Avenue you will be speaking to customers daily ensuring they receive a high standard of service and an excellent customer experience.

Working with our customers

You will be responsible for:

  • Keeping and maintaining a professional approach
  • Making sure the customer is satisfied with the level of service
  • Ensuring you are making the most of any opportunity to win orders
  • Making and maintaining excellent customer relationships
  • Listening to customers’ needs and advising based on this
  • Helping to resolve queries

Day to Day

You will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring you are noting leads and setting them to our sales team via our database
  • Providing support for your colleagues and other divisions
  • Professional approach to your duties
  • Making & receiving phone calls
  • Supporting transport/drivers
  • Attending training courses to further your knowledge in your given role (where applicable)
  • Working toward monthly targets
  • Working efficiently and safely in a fast-paced environment
  • Working with other suppliers to ensure the customer is satisfied and has the correct equipment for their job
  • Processing cash orders including taking payments via the PDQ System

Your daily tasks will include (but are not limited to)

  • Taking new hires/orders and entering them onto our database
  • Taking off hires and entering them onto our database
  • Sending hire quotations and following those up correctly
  • Entering purchase orders
  • Sourcing equipment
  • Logging equipment breakdowns and ensuring they are passed over to the service department
  • Monitoring incoming emails from outside and inside the organisation
  • Dealing with customer queries
  • Taking and entering new sales onto our database
  • Managing outgoing orders

Working with Other Teams

You will be responsible for:

  • Liaising with others to route deliveries/collections (where applicable)
  • Passing over information to the division that specialises in that equipment
  • Ensuring you are getting the correct customer information before sending it to that division
  • Building relationships with Hire Controllers from other divisions to keep the level of professionalism & level of customer service companywide
  • Monitoring incoming emails and taking ownership from start to finish
  • Ensuring you are noting leads and setting them to our sales team via our database
  • Managing stock and liaising with other depots regarding stock movements
  • Communicating correctly with the workshops to ensure equipment is ready and safe for use
