Job description

A rare and exciting job opportunity has arisen in a TV and Film production company. They are looking for a qualified accountant to join their small finance team and take ownership of the monthly financial and management reporting as their Financial Controller. This is a very autonomous and flexible role that you can really make your own by way of improvement of processes and procedures as you see fit. As a small family-feel business, backed and working with a larger organisation you get the best of both worlds in a very exciting industry and will need to have worked in the TV/Film industry as an accountant previously. This is also a highly commercial role with lots of internal and external stakeholder management as well as being involved in the commercial ventures of the business from a finance perspective. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of monthly accounts.
  • Ownership and management of the budgeting and Forecasting process.
  • Review cashflows and manage cash collection and weekly payments.
  • Preparation of monthly MI / Management reporting.
  • Lead monthly production review meetings.
  • Lead monthly Finance meetings with the board.
  • Ensure accurate reporting, while pre-empting the reporting needs.
  • Overseeing the work and line management of two members of staff.
  • Preparation of group VAT return and corporate tax.
  • Management of the audit process.
  • Management of royalty payments and accruals.
  • Hedging Currency.
  • Dealing with Broadcasters UK and Internationally.

Skills and Experience:

  • Fully qualified Accountant ACA, ACCA, or CIMA
  • Previous relevant industry experience ideally Television Production Company experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of distribution
  • Demonstrable experience of managing teams
  • Computer literate with advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
