Job Purpose:
Implement Accounting & Reporting plans and processes to generate quality accounting information, to meet reporting requirements and prepare statutory returns for regulatory authorities, control financial resources and achieve compliance to accounting practices in line with accounting principles, financial policies, controlling guidelines, Group standards and legal requirements.
Directly and indirectly influence outsourced providers to ensure accurate and timely provision of financial information. Develop and manage relationships with senior management throughout the department.
Deputise for CFO as required, for all insurance related matters
Your tasks:
- Implement Accounting & Reporting plans and processes for accounting function
- Deliver Accounting & Reporting projects in line with accounting principles, financial policies, controlling guidelines, Group standards and legal requirements
- Perform Accounting & Reporting services for three insurance entities in different jurisdictions to enhance financial data quality, achieve compliance, implement controls and manage risk appropriately
- Review monthly reporting packs in conjunction with CFO to ensure integrity of data, and accuracy of statutory and management declarations.
- Provide technical accounting advice to support development of insurance-related revenue and expense budgets, understand financial reports, and manage financial responsibilities
- Ensure accuracy of balance sheet, and the general ledger, in relation to solvency, and other reporting, with particular focus on technical insurance accounts.
- Check, analyze, and interpret financial information to enable accurate and meaningful information is supplied to senior managers in a timely fashion.
- Ensure compliance and implementation of robust controls for Accounting & Reporting
- Ensure accuracy, timelines and the general integrity of the accounting function and related to management and statutory reporting
- Manage general financial information, including, but not limited to financial covenants, and signature authorities
- Train fellow colleagues and staff on financial systems, as applicable.
- Prepare and review P&L and balance sheet analysis that supports notes and management commentary in the statutory financial accounts and reports
- Incorporate changes in accounting standards, reporting requirements, and regulatory standards on existing and new transactions
- Prepare monthly closing and budget reports as well as forecast to achieve compliance with global requirements
Your profile:
- Bachelor degree in Finance or similar relevant field
- Qualified Accountant with insurance-related PQE
- More than 8 years of experience within Insurance, including financial background.
