Right now, we’ve got an exciting opportunity to join our City Energy Solutions (CES) team in our Central Control Room based at our Citigen site in Central London. This Central Control Room monitors c60 sites equating to over 46,000 customers. Here you'll be part of a shift team covering 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, remotely monitoring our district Heating, CHP's and heat pump plant and equipment across the country. As a control room team member, you'll be responsible for monitoring our sites, recording and reporting any issues and mobilising engineers to ensure a reliable supply to our customers and value creation from generation assets.
Key responsibilities include
- Remotely monitoring and operating plant and equipment to key performance parameters including availability, reliability, customer power & heat delivery, plant efficiency, energy consumption and generation.
- Making informed decisions on how to react to planned/unplanned outages and incidents on site.
- Determining which customer supply incidents fulfil the emergency criteria and dispatching engineers appropriately.
- Identifying process improvements and implementing solutions.
- Communicating with remote engineers, on-call managers and Customer Operations to rapidly react to incidents on site, co-ordinating City Energy Solution’s response.
- Ensuring all work reported to the Control Room takes place under our Safety Rules, robustly challenging engineers and contractors on work being undertaken.
- Providing detailed plant performance data using a variety of systems to produce management reports and analysis on gas plant, CHP, and renewable generating assets.
What we need from you
- Knowledge and operational engineering experience gained within an energy environment or an associated sector.
- A proven ability to identify technical problems, evaluate and analyse the situation and provide an appropriate response.
- Experience of developing, implementing and operating within safety, environmental and operational policies, frameworks and statutory legislation.
- Excellent communication, influencing, customer service and stakeholder management skills.
- Flexibility alongside meticulous attention to detail and a calm approach to provide coordinated solutions, even under high levels of pressure.
- Good understanding and awareness of environmental, commercial and legal issues.
It would be great if you had
- Educated to Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Building Services, Engineering or a related field.
- Control room experience, preferably gained within an energy environment.
- Previous experience of working with energy providers and other stakeholders to improve plant performance.
- A technical knowledge of BMS Controls, district heating and CHP along with an awareness of Energy Centre operations and plant performance.
- Knowledge or experience on District Heating networks
- Project management experience.
Here’s what you need to know
- The salary for this role is £60,391 - £75,712 which includes shift allowance, contract hours allowance and London allowance.
- This role is based at Citigen CHP, 47-53 Charterhouse Street, London, EC1M 6PB.
- This role will require shift work which involves 12 hour shifts covering 24 hours a day 365 days a year including night shifts.
- This is a permanent role.
