Control Room Operator (Ref: POS007249)

Darlington Borough Council are looking to recruit x2 temporary 20hour Control Room Operators working a fixed schedule covering 3 shift patterns 24hrs a day/365 days a year. Applicants must also have flexibility to cover holidays/sickness and emergency cover. The posts are temporary until March 2024, both positions come with the possibility of becoming permanent. The control centre operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on a three-shift system. You must be available to work the any part of the shift rota as required, which includes weekends and bank holidays, and you will be expected to stay within the control room for the full 8 hour shift, including rest breaks. You must have approximately 1 years previous work experience involving contact with the general public and have the ability to work as part of a team. It is essential that you have good communication, observational and listening skills, be able to handle sensitive information and have a good understanding of the needs of the elderly. Ideally you will be committed to crime prevention, public safety and the welfare of the elderly. Some knowledge of the legislation affecting the provision of CCTV services would be advantageous along with IT skills. SIA training and/or qualification would be desirable but will provided to the successful candidate. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS.
