A vacancy exists within the Road & Rail Traffic Control Systems, Control & Information (C&I) team based at Griffith house. You will report to the Senior Engineering Leader responsible for Asset Operations (AO) maintenance support and will have a proven relevant experience. You will work closely with your team & colleagues in the business and project stakeholders to define and promote the engineering solutions & opportunities.
The C&I team provide two key services: maintenance support to the existing control systems across TfL and the development of new control systems, whether that be supporting externally contracted solutions or the design, development and implementation of the team’s in-house solutions.
For this position your day-to-day activities will be assisting with the support of signal control & Integrated communications software systems as part of an onsite / remote maintenance support team. You’ll make sure assets are safe, working and compliant; develop your own solutions; and be a trusted source of engineering advice to your colleagues & other key stakeholders.
Essential Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Excellent understanding of signalling control software system engineering concepts, ideally with experience in both legacy and modern control and customer Information solutions
- Experience of fault finding, analysis and corrective actions in a rail, communications, electrical or software type environment
- An understanding of IP telecommunication networks & Cyber Security concepts
- Experience in implementing control system design software solutions or their maintenance in operations
- Essential to have the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team but also to work independently where appropriate
- Delivery of projects through the complete life cycle; concept to operational service, using your knowledge of governing standards and industry best practice
Qualifications & Licences
- Degree or HNC in Electrical & Electronics, Software, Telecommunications or similar subjects with an aptitude for practical & innovative engineering solutions
- An IRSE licence 1.3.260 Signalling Electronic Tester is desirable, but not essential
