Job Description:

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Contracts Manager to join our team. As a Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing multiple construction projects in the industrial sector. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Design and Build (D&B) projects and will possess excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.

Working within the industrial sector, what sets us apart is our solid supply chain, which we have diligently nurtured over the past two decades. As a result, an impressive 60% of our projects stem from repeat business with a select group of key clients. Our flat hierarchy empowers you to make decisions swiftly, without the constraints of a strict chain of command. With a current turnover of £62m, our ambitious goal is to reach an impressive £78m by June 2023. We're currently managing 16 live projects and expanding our reach into the public and residential sectors, where we've achieved remarkable success in the past.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Management: Oversee the successful execution of multiple construction projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, quality, and safety standards.

2. Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, taking necessary actions to prevent and resolve issues.

3. Design Team Leadership: Lead and manage the design team, collaborating closely with the Quantity Surveyor (QS), Site Manager (SM), Site Engineer, Design Manager, and Document Controller to ensure smooth project delivery.

4. Commercial Awareness: Maintain a strong understanding of project financials, cost control, and contract management to ensure profitability and client satisfaction.

5. Steel Portal Frame Experience: Utilize your expertise in steel portal frame construction, with experience in other sectors such as education, leisure, or commercial being acceptable.

6. Site Visits: Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, provide guidance, and address any project-related concerns.

7. Proactive Approach: Take a hands-on, proactive approach to problem-solving, keeping ahead of potential issues and finding practical solutions to challenges that may arise.

8. Client Relationship Management: Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations are exceeded.

9. Team Collaboration: Work closely with the project team, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure effective coordination and timely completion of tasks.

10. Health and Safety: Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations and company policies across all projects.

Requirements:

1. D&B Experience: Demonstrable experience in managing Design and Build construction projects.

2. Industrial Sector Knowledge: While industrial experience is preferred, candidates with experience in other sectors such as education, leisure, or commercial will also be considered.

3. Strong Leadership Skills: Ability to lead and motivate a team, ensuring effective collaboration and efficient project delivery.

4. Commercial Awareness: Excellent understanding of project finances, cost control, and contract management.

5. Problem-Solving Skills: Proactive and hands-on approach to identify and address project-related issues.

6. Excellent Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.

7. Flexibility: Ability to work both in an office-based environment and remotely, with regular site visits.

8. Geographical Knowledge: Familiarity with the Essex and Suffolk regions, particularly within the industrial construction sector, is advantageous.
