Joe Court Forestry Ltd is a family run business established in 2005. Based near Hascombe, Surrey we are a growing forestry company which offers all aspects of woodland management across the UK. We have a dedicated team of hand cutters and machine operators with a focus on high customer service and providing a full range of forestry services. We work with all elements of the forestry industry from woodland owners, forest management companies, local governments, and public bodies.
We are a small but expanding team, with sites across the South of England we focus on delivering the best quality service, working hard and continually investing in both machinery and our team. We are passionate about sustainable forestry, protecting our woodlands for future generations and offering a work environment of opportunity, development and support.
The Role
Due to the continued growth of the company, we are looking for someone with experience in forestry, ideally from an operational background, although similar industries such as arboriculture or agriculture would be considered.
Working closely with the Operations Director to ensure the delivery of a high standard of work, as Contracts Manager, you would be responsible for:
- Being a primary point of contact for clients, ensuring projects are delivered to clients’ expectations and on budget, with clear communication throughout.
- Leading pre-start meetings with staff and subcontractors.
- Overseeing works from initial site visit to completion.
- Management and motivation of the operations team.
- Operational logistics
- Ensuring all operational site paperwork is completed and returned according to company procedure.
- Felling licence and grant applications.
- Pricing works and negotiating with timber buyers to provide comprehensive estimates.
- Undertaking regular site audits and H&S checks.
- Assisting with business development and supporting Business Manager where required.
This role would suit someone who is highly personable and organised with a great attention to detail. That has an ability to multitask and problem solve, and work as part of a small team.
The ideal candidate would have core leadership and management skills, excellent self-motivation and initiative with minimum two years industry experience or project management experience. The ability to work onsite in machinery if required would be a huge bonus and any experience writing tenders would be beneficial but not essential.
The role is full-time, office based nr Godalming, Surrey.
Hours would be 50 hours a week.
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 depending on experience.
