The TRU West Alliance is delivering a key part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU), a multi-billion pound investment programme that will increase capacity and provide space for millions more passengers in the north every year. Involving multiple bridge reconstructions, significant earthworks, refurbishment of historical listed structures besides well the construction of several new stations and a multi span viaduct; TRU has an exciting portfolio of Civil engineering works to suit your interests and skillset.
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team as a Contractors Responsible Engineer. Initially involving pre-construction development of the upcoming works, you would operate from our Manchester and Batley Office before moving to a site based role across the project footprint between Ravensthorpe and Leeds.
- Accountability for the day-to-day management and co-ordination of the technical and engineering activities for construction works related to the allocated projects in accordance with NR/L2/RSE/02009.
- Work in conjunction/ collaboration with the design and assurance teams to ensure that constructability is adequately incorporated in the all designs. Take part in Inter-Disciplinary Design and Construction Reviews to ensure all interface issues are considered and addressed.
- Run a Technical Query process to ensure all scope clarifications are resolved, and that Audit and Surveillance is carried out for their discipline.
- Responsible for the adequate identification and elimination/mitigation of hazards in the construction phase.
- Responsible for implementing the outputs from risk assessment processes including the incorporation of identified mitigation/ control measures to eliminate / reduce hazards.
- Ensure works are implemented in accordance with the design, project requirements, standards and legislation, industry best practise and lessons learnt. Review any alterations to standards for impact against project/contract deliverables and ensure that all engineering documentation and deliverables are fit for purpose.
- Implementation and compliance with Alliance construction processes.
- Provide engineering input to the project’s delivery and staging strategy.
- Input into and review all project/contract Safety, Quality, Environment and Work Package Plan documents. Monitor compliance with Network Rail’s Asset Management Plan.
- Provide support and technical advice to the Alliance
Your qualifications, skills and experience should include:
- Must be able to provide recent Network Rail endorsed NR/L2/RSE/02009/F0040 documentation as evidence of CRE responsibilities.
- Demonstrable experience of operating as a CRE on major rail projects.
- Familiarity with Network Rail UK railway industry standards and procedures.
- Member of a relevant professional body (ICE or similar) with chartered status and educated to degree level, unless significant experience in the role has previously been recognised and accepted by Network Rail.
- Work closely with the other support functions on a day to day basis providing support as required. Including Design, Procurement, Commercial, Estimating, Engineering and Assurance and Planning.
- Experience working on Projects based on Collaborative forms of Contracts, desirable.
- Experience working on multi-disciplinary projects - particularly stations and structures, desirable.
- Current Personal Track Safety (PTS) Sentinel Accreditation, desirable.
