Job Title: Continuous Product Improvement - Senior Engineer
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 (Depending on Experience)
Location : Peterborough, Cambridgeshire
Benefits: 25 days annual leave,
Up to 12% bonus
Contributory pension scheme - Caterpillar will double the employee's contribution Up to 10%

The Opportunity
Within Caterpillar, CAT Electronics (CAT E) is responsible for electronic and electrical systems development across all CAT engine and machine platforms. Based in Peterborough, the European Division of CAT E works with all CAT’s European facilities to develop and apply advanced technology to the control of our highly integrated engines and machines. With unrivalled levels of vertical integration within the industry, CAT E’s systems help to maximise the customer value and efficiency of Caterpillar’s end products, whilst minimising owning and operating costs.
The Engine Systems Team is part of the European Division and is responsible for development, implementation and integration of electrical and electronic (E&E) control systems for engine and power systems developed by Caterpillar in the UK.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
With accountability for the identification and resolution of quality and reliability issues on diesel engine control systems and associate electrical / electronic components. Activities will include:
Conducting reliability analysis of current products
Monitoring performance against targets and identifying quality and reliability improvement opportunities
Prioritising of issues and projects
Leading complex improvement projects and delivering solutions using Continuous Product Improvement 6 Sigma methodology
Supporting assembly facilities and addressing quality issues affecting production and internal customers

Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
Engineering degree or equivalent experience
Strong statistical and analytical analysis skills.
High technical capability with experience in electronics, control systems (hardware and software) and diagnostics
Demonstratable project management, leadership and root investigation experience.
Proven 6 Sigma DMAIC experience, preferably as a Black Belt leader.
Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
Cross functional experience, working in a multi-discipline environment.
Experience of working with customers, OEMs and equipment dealers.
