About the role:
Transparency are a new press corporation, vying to grow into the largest news outlet in the Barking and Dagenham area. We are a looking for a perceptive, eloquent individual to write content once a week concerning the Barking and Dagenham area. For that reason, this role may suit somebody from the area, however, it can certainly be a great fit for someone from any part of London.
The position is for The Evening Wiki.
It will be one piece of content a week, on anything you choose. If engaging with the public is necessary to a specific piece and will inform your content, you can do so, in any way you choose - facebook groups, people you already know, talking to the community in person, etc.
At this time we average 30,000 unique visitors a month, and 70,000 pageviews a month.
Although new, we will go on marketing campaigns beginning in July to grow our readership even further, so this is an excellent opportunity to grow your reputation and experience, and have your content published on an accredited platform where it will be seen by thousands.
In the first 4 weeks you will be a 'volunteer', and after that you will be a freelancer that we will pay a fixed amount for each piece of content you submit per week.
We will provide you an online account for submissions and an @tgmco.uk email.
Required skills:
- Flawless command of the English language.
- Understanding of SEO principles for headlines, images, article body - not a requirement, but ideal.
- Ability to meet deadlines, as we expect one piece a week.
- Passionate about news.
- Ability to be perceptive and analytical. As some of your content will likely be purely discussion pieces about local area or UK developments, you would need to be able to be argumentative and critical to create engaging content.
