Job description
We're seeking a temp to possibly full-time Content Writer to work with an alcohol beverage client. The ideal candidate will be NY-based, with the ability to work with the team as needed.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Write/edit short-form articles on brands, products and marketing campaigns for PR distribution and placement in industry publications
- Co-write/edit quarterly long-form special reports
- Assist with writing/editing bylined thought leadership articles
- Write/edit other long- and short-form articles on various topics as needed
- Schedule and conduct interviews with client representatives and other relevant sources
- Work with industry publications to coordinate the timely and accurate delivery of approved content; verify placement to ensure that agreed-upon parameters have been met and quality standards have been maintained
- Evaluate existing content assets to identify reuse possibilities
- Manage/coordinate content calendar and production/approval processes for all written content, including collection of all necessary research reports, artwork, and other assets
- Work with Account Manager to facilitate ongoing communication with client and ensure timely, seamless coordination of content development
- Conduct two hours of weekly outreach to industry and general business publications/websites to secure placement for the short-form articles and interviews for client executives
- Conduct a quarterly analysis of viewer/reader metrics, audience response, to develop lessons learned and recommendations/revisions for future optimization
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Experience writing content for the marketing and retail industries a must
- Experience writing long-form industry reports (both research- and interview-based), short-form news articles and case studies, press releases and corporate announcements
- Experience crafting thought pieces based on interviews with subject matter experts
- Superior attention to detail. You turn in copy that is ready for publication, and you’d rather eat worms than be responsible for a typo
- Ability to successfully manage and meet deadlines and handle the pressure they can often create
- Problem-solver with proven track record of adjusting on the fly
- Ability to work equally well alone or on teams
- Flexibility to adjust plans whenever necessary without skipping a beat or having a cow
- Confident enough in your own abilities yet ever-eager to learn more
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in journalism/English and past experience in the field of marketing are required. Experience in PR and/or client management preferred.
