Are you a talented Content Manager looking for a new and exciting challenge?

We are looking to appoint an ambitious and creative Content Manager to lead, support and execute the strategic direction of content across The FA's Competitions. Aligned with our strategic objectives, this exciting role is integral in driving positive change and developing commercial growth.

About the Team

We set out to unite the game and inspire the nation. This role sits within our talented and collaborative MCC department with a united aim to change the game to maximise its impact.

The role will oversee:
  • Emirates Men's FA Cup and Vitality Women's FA Cup.
  • Women's Leagues (Barclays Women's Super League, Barclays Women's Championship)
  • Women's Conti League Cup.

What will you be doing?

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of The FA's Competitions and Women's Leagues content output, across both owned and operated channels.
  • Line manager to two content creatives, overseeing performance, providing mentorship and career development.
  • Build strong key stakeholder relationships at all levels across the wider business to support and manage campaigns and content activations.
  • Manage key agency and vendor relationships to create opportunities to deliver world-class content.
  • Work collaboratively with The FA's communication team to align on key messaging and deliver game-changing campaigns.
  • Ideate and execute campaigns at scale, supporting commercial and marketing objectives, and delivering value for The FA and our partners.
  • Content Team representative in meetings with internal personnel across Communications, Marketing, Operations, and Brand, briefing and debriefing messaging.
  • Play an important role in collaborating with Brand Managers to grow competitions and the league's digital presence and build meaningful relationships, reaching new audiences for The Emirates FA Cup.
  • Lead creative sessions and provide regular detailed reports to the wider business on channel and content performance.
  • Key contributor to the department's cross-platform content strategy, aligned to The FA's strategic goals and positioning.
  • Collaborate with The FA's video team to plan, produce, deliver, and analyse content that informs, engages, and entertains target audiences.
  • Coordinate paid media plans across campaigns with internal stakeholders and media agencies.
  • Manage budget across Competitions and Leagues for the 23/24 season.
  • Key contributor to the Broadcast Operation team, shaping strategy and developing compelling content promotion, VOD and commercial integration.
  • Work closely with the Senior Digital Content Manager and Senior Video Content Manager to shape The FA's content strategy.
  • Manage content planning with direct reports, and external and internal stakeholders to ensure delivery of projects and draw out the best creative.
  • Content collaboration with other key FA Brands (England Football) and teams.

  • Ability to translate brand plans into actionable content plans.
  • Knowledge of football.
  • Deep desire to make a positive change in society, growing the game and making football inclusive for all.
  • Ability to keep cool and focused during live high-pressured event environments.
  • Strong stakeholder communication and collaboration (internal and external).
  • Clear understanding of the social media landscape, including emerging trends and future opportunities.
  • Ability to manage a large digital community, responding to conversations and producing reactive content where appropriate.
  • Experience managing a small team.
  • Managed a range of agencies and vendors.
  • Strong evidence of creating engaging, entertaining and informative content through an editorial lens.
  • Developed strategies for largescale owned and operated channels.
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Expertise in producing highly engaging social media, website and video content.
  • Strong project management and organisation skills.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Highly creative.
  • Passionate about content and maintaining the highest standards.
  • Strong understanding of paid media.
  • Knowledge of social media analytics, including key metrics and how to use them to measure performance.

Beneficial to have:
  • Editorial experience and/or journalism qualification.
  • Strong understanding of the sports industry.
  • Line management (objectives setting/career development support).
  • A broad understanding and appreciation of cultural content themes (fashion, music, entertainment).
  • Willingness to innovate and embrace new technology and ways of working.
  • An interest in both men's and women's sports.
  • Experienced with OTT content, AVOD or TVOD.

Our Organisation

The Football Association [The FA] is the not-for-profit governing body of football in England. We currently work within a hybrid working model whereby the expectation is to work from your contractual location for part of the week, and as and when required by the team. The remaining days can be worked remotely. We will continue to monitor this model and it may be adjusted in future if deemed necessary.
