Job description

Overview

Founded in 1999 by Sukhinder and Rajbir Singh, Speciality Drinks Group is a fast-growing and world-renowned international spirits company. It was one of the first multi-channel, multi-market global drinks distributors and is a leader in its field. Now made up of four group companies, it is an independently managed business and a recent addition to the Pernod Ricard Group since November 2021.

We pride ourselves on our imagination, creativity and ability to source and sell fantastic spirits across the globe. We love what we do and we would love you to come and join us.

We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced and creative Content Team leader. We’re looking for someone with experience in setting direction by developing thought leadership content strategies along with creative content planning, and solid external communications plans, to help deliver on corporate and marketing objectives.

Working closely with the creative and marketing teams, and reporting to the Brand Director, you will play a key role in driving brand awareness, engagement, and conversion through the development and optimisation of compelling content (across various channels). This is a strategic role that requires a deep understanding of our target audience, market trends, and content marketing best practices, but the successful candidate will also need to be comfortable getting stuck in to the work and collaborating with other teams.

The role requires someone who is strategically minded, creative and thrives in operational excellence. This person will need to lead, manage and motivate a team of content managers, as well as the PR and communications team.

If you are innovative, creative, enjoy change and are passionate about brands, this role is for you. In return we can offer an exciting, fast-moving, varied environment with great opportunities to develop your career.

Your unique contribution

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with the organisation’s corporate goals and brand positioning
  • Oversee the creation and optimisation of high-quality, engaging, and relevant content, including features, show guides, podcasts (future), blog posts (alongside the Brand Ambassadors), social media content, videos, infographics, and more
  • Work with the team to develop PR strategies and plans to deliver robust communications and engagement plans to increase share of voice in the media
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather insights, align messaging, and ensure consistent brand voice across all content touchpoints.
  • Lead and mentor a team of content managers and PR managers, providing guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities to foster a high-performing and collaborative one team culture within the company and creative services
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for strategic projects with a dependency on content understanding their needs and objectives
  • Responsibility for writing best-in-class and best practice SEO optimised content, driving the production of innovative and engaging content across all formats
  • Editorial guardianship of thewhiskyexchange.com
  • Monitor and analyse content performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of content initiatives, identify opportunities for improvement in content ideation and content performance, and make data-driven recommendations

Your blend of talent

To be successful in this role you’ll need to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling and persuasive content for different target audiences and channels. Ideally, you will also have:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field (e.g., Marketing, Comms, or PM)
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead a team of content managers and PR professionals, and to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Proven experience in the creation of content strategy, content marketing, or a related role
  • Strong understanding of content marketing principles, techniques, and best practices
  • Solid analytical skills, with the ability to analyse data, derive insights, and make data-driven recommendations to optimize content performance
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities to develop innovative content strategies and overcome challenges.
  • Knowledge of current trends in digital marketing, social media, and emerging technologies.
  • Creative problem-solving mindset and the willingness to see projects through to completion
  • Knowledge of the drinks industry and a passion for its products.

Applications are to be received by Friday 7 July. If you’d like to know more about the role and to see the job description please email [email protected].
