As the Compliance Manager at The Walt Disney Company, you will be a key adviser to Disney+ and Star Content, Channels and Programming Strategy teams for EMEA, the Regional Compliance team advises on most aspects of Disney+ and Star content, Library, Acquisitions and Production.
The Compliance Manager delivers strong team management of and guidance, as well as support to the Senior Manager of EMEA Compliance, in order to ensure successful Compliance delivery by the team. This role liaises regularly with Compliance colleagues in other European countries and the United States and oversees the Advisors in the Regional Compliance team, across Disney+ and across the Nat Geo and Disney Channels.
The Opportunity & Responsibilities:
Manage and comply original productions from concepts through to scripts, animatics, rough and final cuts
Review Acquisitions and provide guidance and recommendation to the Acquisitions team, to ensure all content is suitable for the platform, advise on and oversee any minor edits needed
Review Library content for Disney+ and Star to ensure suitability for EMEA markets
Rate, per the NICAM ratings system, content for Disney+ and Star
Give sound verbal and written compliance guidance to other areas of the business in emails and meetings, including ad hoc advice, as required
Give confident compliance training and presentations to other lines of business, as and when required, adapting to their needs
Provide advice and training to teams in other EMEA countries who have Disney+ and Star
Assist Senior Manager in managing Co-ordinator, Intern and freelancers, and their duties, giving sound and confident advice and training and helping to allocate their work
Progress stakeholder relationships
Ensure Programmers are advised of sensitive content if tragic news events occur
Keep abreast of changes/updates on regulation and ensure the EMEA compliance team are kept updated
Keep abreast of cultural sensitivities that come to light, and advise the Channels teams
Identify topics for discussion in monthly EMEA/International Compliance conference calls, and the monthly EMEA Marketing Compliance conference call
Share compliance information/issues/points of interest with other EMEA countries and vice versa
Give compliance advice on and implement any new systems, eg: Adstream, Mediator, ensuring smooth take up for the team
Identify opportunities to improve the delivery of compliance for the business
The Experience We Require From You:
Sound background and track record of accuracy in broadcast regulatory compliance.
Good working knowledge and practical application of Broadcasting Codes of the following regulatory bodies: Ofcom, Spanish Regulations, and, ideally, NICAM.
Experience of compliance in both children’s and GE broadcasting, including animation
The ability to communicate quickly and effectively from a Compliance perspective, with evaluations, advice and guidance, to internal stakeholders in different lines of business
The ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing or in meetings, with responses, advice and guidance to external Ad Sales teams and production teams.
Interest in working with content for Central and Eastern European, Emerging Market and Nordic territories, liaising with the UK, US and other European territories.
Experience in working in fast-turnaround and/or pressurised environment.
Experience in responding to or advising on responses to viewer complaints/content concerns on compliance points.
