Job Description


We are looking to recruit a Transport Planner into the Urban Space team of our Transport Planning Business in either the St Albans (Hertfordshire) or London Aldgate offices. This is an exciting opportunity to join an accomplished team and work on a range of transport planning projects focused on multi-modal and active mode assessments and urban micro-simulation for a wide variety of clients. The Transport Planner will report to a Principal / Associate Director within a team in a collaborative and open office environment. A key part of this role is to provide high-quality, affordable and innovative solutions.

In order to carry out the responsibilities as a Transport Planner, you will require a numerical degree at bachelor's or master’s level or an equivalent qualification. You will have experience with multimodal and active mode assessments using microsimulation modelling software, such as VISSIM. Data analysis skills, alongside good knowledge and experience in using Microsoft Excel, are also key skill sets necessary for the role.

St Albans is one of our central hubs for the Transport Planning and Development Planning team, located 30 minutes north from London St Pancras / Kings Cross, and on the Thameslink railway line with direct routes to Croydon, Wimbledon, Luton, Brighton, and more. London Aldgate is one of our major hubs for our global consultancy services, and working closely with our colleagues in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, as well as other offices; and is on the Hammersmith and City/ District Line at the Aldgate East Station.

We develop and use some of the most sophisticated transport modelling techniques, applying a range of specialist software, and offer a comprehensive internal training programme to further assist professional and technical development. The successful Principal Transport Planner will be joining a growing Transport Planning team that is actively involved in the delivery of projects and services to a range of both local and national clients including: Transport for London (TfL); National Highways; London Boroughs such as Ealing, Sutton, and Wandsworth County Councils such as Leicestershire, Oxfordshire and Kent.


Qualifications
  • Experience of using VisVAP for signal coding in VISSIM.
  • Experience of preparing VISSIM models to TfL’s VMAP and DfT TAG standards.
  • Experience or knowledge of strategic models such as SATURN, VISUM, CUBE and Diadem.
  • Experience in Geographic Information System (GIS), MAPINFO or ARC
  • Experience of data analysis/ processing with scripting experience an advantage
  • Understanding of traffic engineering/ junction design principals

Additional Information

  • Post-graduate qualifications an advantage
  • Membership or working towards membership of a chartered professional institution such as CIHT, TPS, CILT or ICE
