Job description
Consultant Haematologist -– Haemostasis and Thrombosis
This post has arisen due to Trust investment in the haematology department, increasing staffing across the specialty. The successful applicant will join a committed, enthusiastic and friendly team of 13 Haematologists. We wish to appoint a full-time (10PA contract) consultant with a specialist interest in Haemostasis and Thrombosis but will also consider less than full time applicants.
The department currently works across the two sites with two separate inpatient facilities. The two current dedicated haematology wards provide a combined accommodation for over 30 inpatients with facilities for Apheresis and Autologous stem cell transplants (JACIE accredited), Teenage and
Young Adults and the management of acute leukaemia. In addition, on each site there is a dedicated haematology and oncology day treatment unit used for chemotherapy administration and supportive care. The new cancer care ward (with 30 Haematology designated beds and 20 Oncology beds), is due to be completed at the Bournemouth site in early 2025. Outpatient clinics and chemotherapy facilities will continue to be delivered from Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch sites.
The post holder will be working across the two UHD sites supporting the existing H&T consultant haematologist in providing outpatient clinics in general haematology, haemostasis and thrombosis and hereditary and acquired bleeding disorders.
