NUVIA UK are actively recruiting for a Characterisation Consultant Trainee to join our Technical Services & Consulting team. We are seeking individuals to be based out of our Harwell office on a permanent basis. The role will involve regular travel, once or twice a month to nuclear power stations and other sites, so a driving licence is essential.
The Land Remediation and Characterisation team specialise in the deployment and operation of mobile gamma spectrometry systems to various nuclear and non-nuclear sites throughout the UK and abroad. In addition, we provide higher level consultancy on various aspects of the waste management lifecycle and land quality.
Reports to:
- Report to Principal Consultant
Main Duties:
- Transport and operation of gamma spectrometry systems in support of decommissioning and remediation programmes of work.
- Writing technical reports on works undertaken for various customers.
- Data checking to ensure good quality results are supplied to customers.
Key Accountabilities:
Required Technical Competence:
- Knowledge of radioactivity
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Occupational Skills and Knowledge:
Essential:
- Science A Levels or Degree (BSc, MSc or PhD) in a scientific discipline
- Driving licence.
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Keen to learn on the job
- Willing to travel
- Good attention to detail
Desirable:
- Experience of knowledge of gamma spectrometry - high and/or resolution
- Good technical report writing skills
- Commercially aware
