Job overview
We are seeking to appoint a full-time substantive ENT consultant with special interest in rhinology and anterior skull base at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) NHS Trust. NUH is a NHS tertiary center which attracts regional referrals from Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire.
This is an exciting new full time post attracting 10 programmed activities (PA’s) to support and further develop the existing advanced rhinology and anterior skull base service. There will also be an opportunity to expand awake rhinology surgery.
The post is available to start with immediate effect. Applicants should be on the Specialist Register and have completed or be undertaking an anterior skull base fellowship. Subject to negotiation, it is likely that a suitable candidate currently undertaking a Fellowship would be encouraged to complete their advanced training before taking up the position.

Main duties of the job
As a teaching Trust NUH has a strong relationship with the University of Nottingham. In partnership with the University of Nottingham, NUH operates two NIHR Biomedical Research Units - in Hearing & Deafness and Digestive Diseases. Academic interests will be strongly encouraged and supported.

Working for our organisation
Our ENT department at NUH provides a comprehensive range of ORL-HNS services and is organized on a sub-specialty basis. The department is situated in a purpose built PFI building and is shared with Ophthalmology. Our outpatient consulting rooms has been equipped with new state-of-the-art videoendoscopic equipment. There is a 34 bedded inpatient/day case ward for adults, shared with Maxillofacial Surgery and Ophthalmology and a 22 bedded paediatric surgical specialty ward. There are three ENT operating theatres with a wide range of equipment including CO2 and KTP lasers, and Image Guidance systems.

Qualifications and Professional Regsitration
Essential criteria
- FRCS (ORL HNS) or an equivalent higher surgical qualification in speciality
- Full GMC registration
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via: * CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) * CESR or * European Community Rights CCT expected within 6 months of interview date
Desirable criteria
- Higher professional degree in relevant topic
Clinical skills/Experience
Essential criteria
- Substantial experience in head neck 2 week wait, oncological head neck surgery
- Clinical Skills/Experience Able to communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, their families and other health professionals. Undertaken a national and/or international Fellowship in Anterior skull base Specific training in communication skills Specific training in patient safety and/or human factors
Desirable criteria
- Fellowship level training within ENT head neck oncology
- Specific training in communication skills
- Specific training in patient safety and/or human factors

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
