Ethics & Compliance Governance Consultant

In order to set our company up for further success, we need an Ethics & Compliance Governance Consultant to join our team. As an Ethics & Compliance (E&C) Governance Consultant, you will help to drive a culture where customers receive good outcomes across the regulated businesses and collaborate with other “2nd Line of defence” functions across Centrica Group to develop/maintain an integrated & aligned approach to managing the risk of compliance with Laws and Regulations, to protect the profitability of the business, support positive customer outcomes, and protect the licence to operate.
You will also support the delivery of Compliance Governance activities across E&C. This includes but is not limited to Regulatory Compliance relating to the Financial Conduct Authority and Ofgem.
Location: We work flexibly in line with our Flexible First working arrangements believing that empowered colleagues are happier and more productive. The successful candidate will, however, need to be comfortable commuting to our Windsor office (SL4 5GD) a couple of times per month.
About the Role:
Maintain close working relationships with a view to maximising the efficiency and effectiveness of the overall E&C Compliance framework
Support the delivery and embedding of a single view of Senior Managers regulatory responsibilities, risks associated and controls environment
Carry out Quality Assessment of Regulatory Applications for Senior Managers providing feedback/enhancements to process owners
Submission of applications for Appointed Representatives following satisfactory completion of due diligence undertaken by the business
Maintain the Regulatory Compliance Framework including, Regulatory Compliance Plan, and Compliance Handbook
Support the embedding of the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SM&CR) and Worksmart Accord SM&CR software solution
Produce accurate and concise monthly updates to the British Gas Insurance Board summarising recent interactions with the Financial Conduct Authority
Responsible for the SMF/Cert Resource Library (Our Shop Window)
Monitor and manage the tracking information/data requests from the FCA to ensure timely and appropriate completion by business owners
Manage the co-ordination of responses to regulatory information/data requests
Act as Subject Matter Expert on relevant Governance Activities
About You:
Experience in ethics & compliance governance in a team under regulatory oversight (e.g., from FCA/Ofgem) is desirable
Effectively manage stakeholders and senior management by adapting the style of communication to suit the situation and the individual
Proven oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide clear and succinct information
Excellent analytical skills. Ability to identify and interpret key issues from complex and detailed regulatory and government papers
Awareness and experience of working in a regulated environment and understanding of a regulatory framework in Financial Services
Credibility to build relationships with a variety of internal stakeholders and influence accordingly
Experience in multi-tasking, being able to navigate complex tasks & prioritise effectively
Engage with stakeholders in an open, honest, and productive manner to promote collaborative working
Understanding of organisational governance, business models, culture, operational, financial, quality assurance and risk management procedures is a must
Deep understanding of how regulators work
