How are you going to deliver ultra-rapid EV charging sites?
That’s the million-dollar question. The question is not whether we’re going to have a multi-site EV Charging proposition within our Sainsbury's estate right across the UK, because we’re working on that. Or our new EV Charging team is. EV ownership is heading towards the millions, and we want to make sure our customers can get an ultra-rapid charge whenever and wherever they are. It’ll make us one of the top suppliers in the country. And you could be part of that.

More about the role:
Responsible for the delivery of EV charging bays to time, cost, quality, and safety parameters and compliant to all legal, statutory and local authority requirements. Managing; Health & safety, Disruption management – ensuring best possible customer journey and resolve ‘issues’ as required to ensure projects remain on track.
- Control of capital and revenue expenditure, ensuring the change control process is adhered to, cost is rigorously challenged, and financial authority is not exceeded.
- Responsible for preparation of all contract and project documentation prior to sign off with relevant stakeholders.
- To deliver comprehensive communication and specification briefs for internal and external parties, to ensure a successful implementation to company requirements and specifications.
- To sign off projects upon completion from a quality perspective and to agree (and challenge) the final account.
- Manage and minimise risk throughout the investment process and during progress on site, making balanced recommendations on capital expenditure, relating to design, procurement, construction, consents, and agreements.
- Work with Procurement and Supply Chain manager to source the right contractor base.
- Work alongside the EV Feasibility Project Manager, EV Supply Chain Manager, Property Programme and taking an indirect leadership role with external contractors and suppliers to deliver the best possible outcomes.
- Communicate with and influence senior stakeholders, as appropriate, on project and programme progress and risks.
- Stay alert to new trends and developments in the sector.
More about you:
- Entrepreneurial mindset and innovate approach, with a strong focus on ‘Making it Happen’.
- Able to demonstrate the application of complex construction and project management theory (normally gained through higher education) in developing solutions.
- Extensive experience in delivery of Construction projects with a commercial focus
- Experience of working with multiple outsourced services providers
- Be able to create great relationships and networks with the ability to work collaboratively with internally and external teams.
- A logical and systematic approach to work to deliver structured, well planned, and thoughtful projects that deliver best possible outcomes.
- The ability to solve problems and make decisions, as well as think strategically and laterally.
- Able to manage time effectively in the face of conflicting priorities and timescales.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) to present investment plans.
