Job description
Cahill is recruiting for a Construction Manager to join our dynamic multidiscipline Western Canada team. As Construction Manager with Cahill you will report directly to the Project Manager and support the team from the project bid phase to onsite execution. The project portfolio for our Western Canada operations includes, SAGD well pad construction, maintenance, and turnarounds, CoGen facilities, hydroelectric stations, oil sands mining facilities, among many more. As a member of the Western Canada team, the Construction Manager will be responsible for large scale multi-discipline brown field construction.
What will you do?
- Works closely with the bid team to ensure submission accuracy, project constructability and scope clarity
- Oversees the construction of multidisciplinary crews including mechanical, piping, structural, electrical and instrumentation for project scopes which include furnace assemblies, welding procedures, cable pulls, piping tie-ins and system calibrations
- Leads the safety program and actively contributes to the company objective of zero lost time accidents
- Maintains professional working relationships with the Client and proactively works to resolve issues as they arise
- Ensures monthly progress bills are accurate Works with Superintendent and Forepersons in the field to ensure safe and timely field execution
- Responsible for site mobilization, site setup, daily coordination, and demobilization, including the managing, securing and maintaining the site construction equipment, tools, materials and supplies
- Identifies and manages change orders, supports quantification, and manages changes
- Works with the Project Controls team to develop the project schedule, including the development of the export plan and work packages if necessary and monitors actual against planned.
What will you bring?
A diploma or degree with a focus in Mechanical or Electrical engineering or equivalent education in a relevant field OR a Red Seal Journeyperson- Certification in a related trade. 10+ years as an Industrial Project Manager Experience with lump sum and cost reimbursable commercial models
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills are required
- Experience in building successful client-contractor relationships
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Brownfield experience in the oil sand is considered an asset
- Experience in mechanical and electrical and instrumentation is considered an asset
