Head of Construction
An exciting new opportunity has opened for a Head of Construction to join our well-established and dynamic team at Cameron. Based in Notting Hill, Cameron is a successful domestic and commercial garden design, build and maintenance company established over 20 years ago. Experience in construction and landscaping is essential.
This position offers the right candidate a fantastic opportunity to work on some top-end and innovative garden designs, within an expanding company. This role bridges the gap between the office and the onsite teams. It will require exceptional construction knowledge and onsite management to ensure domestic and commercial projects are profitable and run to time. The candidate will be self-motivated, with excellent people skills and will enjoy working with a growing Project Management team. They will be supporting the design studio and project team to ensure the designs can be practically achieved.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Construction Project Management Manage and oversee all onsite construction operations
- Monitor onsite project progress including taking proactive measures to mitigate risks and resolve conflicts
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Designers to ensure smooth project execution and effective communication with clients
- Assist with procurement of the relevant machinery, tools, materials required to carry out project construction.
- Collaborate with the Project Managers and Estimator to source and procure construction materials and equipment at competitive prices, while maintaining quality standards
- Support the Estimator in quoting accurately for new works
- Team leadership and Management Lead and guide the teams of foremen, assistants, and subcontractors onsite ensuring efficient use of onsite resource allocation * Foster a positive and collaborative work environment
- Assist in implementing training and development plans to enhance the skills and capabilities of the onsite teams
- Product Quality and Compliance Ensure all construction activities adhere to industry best practices, quality standards, and relevant regulations
- Conduct site inspections to monitor construction quality, identify deficiencies, and implement corrective actions as needed
- Implement and enforce H&S protocols and practices to mitigate accidents, injuries, and client property damage
Required Skills
- Proven working experience in construction management preferably within the landscaping industry
- BS degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or related field
- Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods
- Expert knowledge of hard landscaping products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
- Competent in conflict and crisis management
- Excellent time and project management skills
- High level of organization, and efficient time management
- Excellent attention to detail with high expectations of a high-end finish
- Excellent leadership skills; ability to communicate and negotiate effectively
- Extremely self-motivated and committed to achieving excellent results
- Confident IT skills and use of all Microsoft Packages; Excel etc and proficiency in project management tools and software
- A full UK driving license
