Carbon60 are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading global supplier of opto-electronics and photonic products present in a variety of markets from medical and biotechnology to semiconductor and industrial markets, based in Hamble, Hampshire. The Materials Technician should be a strong team player, working closely with their peers to achieve a common goal. They should be flexible with their working hours and adaptable in the tasks that they do depending on the levels of workload and needs of the business. They should be able to work independently without too much direction and take responsibility for decisions made. The Materials Technician should have a strong awareness of the organization and endeavour to behave with integrity at all times. Full training in manufacturing processes will be provided for this role.Main Responsibilities Undertake training on manufacturing processes required for fiber and sub-assembly manufacturing Carry out manufacturing processes (measuring and cutting fiber materials, cleaving and fiber preparation, etching, termination, polishing, lens processing and sub assembly etc) Ensure work is in accordance with the Quality Management System including; effective material control, high levels of cleanliness as per Cleanroom requirements and 5S standards, Contribute to continuous improvement by recommending and implementing ideas and measures Flexible response to customer requests to support on time delivery. Ensure safe methods of working to H&S policies and systemsThe successful candidate will possess the following:- Excellent attention to detail Experience in manufacturing and/or assembly work Be flexible in terms of changing work procedures, varying tasks and completing requested overtime if necessary Good manual dexterity Ability to follow instructions and methods and use their own initiative when neededBehavioural Indicators - behaviours that we expect the job holder to display in this role:Actively listens to new ideas and demonstrates willingness to try out new ideas.
