Your Role
As a Project Design Technology Lead - Senior Computational Urban Designer, you will be a key member in the Community Studio advancing parametric design and computational analysis on a multitude of urban projects at various scales. You will be an integral part of the Design Technology team, promoting, implementing, and elevating our BIM and digital modelling workflows and protocols in the studio. This unique position combines a direct involvement in prestigious projects in the region with a more strategic role where you will determine the roadmap for advancement of our regional digital design in partnership with the regional Design Technology leadership.
We are seeking experienced design professionals with a deep knowledge of the entire design and construction process, as well as a very good understanding of computational design tools. Reporting directly to the Regional Design Technology Director and the Studio Director, you will use your soft skills, relationship building and technical expertise to drive with confidence process innovation, optimization and digital workflows/solutions creation and implementation in partnership with your fellow studio members and in collaboration with the Regional Design Technology Team. Ultimately, we believe that this role is a key contributor to delivering the highest value and best outcomes to our clients.
What You Will Do
- Set up and manage parametric and computational design workflows and solutions for project-specific and studio needs
- Integrate Design Technology workflows, tools, and applied practices with project teams
- Conduct research and development for new applications of Design Technology
- Model Management and additional analytics on design practices
- Development of pipeline for interoperability of BIM and other Design Technology tools
- Digital content management. Partner with project teams to establish project specific digital content strategies and protocols
- Oversight and management of regional support, training and BIM team
- Oversight of the development of BEPs and other project related model documentation/scope of work
- Develop and strengthen relationships with office and studio leaders by improving communication and integration of Design Technology throughout the duration of projects
Your Qualifications
- Minimum of a Master’s degree or equivalent technical training or prior work experience in the building industry
- Expert knowledge of Rhinoceros and Grasshopper tools
- Advanced knowledge of visual programming in Grasshopper (and Dynamo), and preferred knowledge of textual programming in C# or Python
- Advanced knowledge of Autodesk Revit Architecture
- Knowledge of other design applications such as V-Ray, 3DS Max, Sketchup, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, etc.
- 5+ years of experience in a digital design role throughout of all phases of design and delivery
- Articulate communicator, able to convey design technology concepts to all levels of design and delivery leadership
- Punctual, able to adhere to deadlines, and have a strong work ethic
- Creative thinker dedicated to problem solving, research, and innovation
