About Us

UEL’s Quality Assurance and Enhancement (QAE) Department is responsible for the development and implementation of the University’s academic quality assurance processes and procedures. We provide specialist support to our academic and professional services staff, our student body, and staff and students at our academic partners in the UK and internationally to deliver UEL’s Vision 2028.

Our professional expertise contributes to the successful development, validation, review and enhancement of UEL courses including apprenticeships and academic partner provision, and we focus on continually improving our student experience as well as supporting the University to meet the requirements of external regulation.

Each QAE Quality Manager and Officer leads on a range of responsibilities within an agreed portfolio reflecting their knowledge, experience and skills and the requirement of the team.

About the Job

The Quality Manager (Review and Compliance) is one of a team of specialists with responsibility for the planning, management, delivery and oversight of aspects of the University’s quality framework. In particular this role leads on:

  • Managing UEL’s External Examiner Framework and reporting systems
  • Organisation and management of UEL’s internal periodic academic review process
  • Managing the annual module monitoring and continual course monitoring processes
  • Managing annual audits of quality assurance procedures and overseeing audit management and reporting


You will have responsibility for line managing members of the QAE team and will contribute to the governance and work of committees as well as the ongoing monitoring and updating of policy and the quality framework and the broader work of QAE and UEL.

This role is based at our Docklands Campus with hybrid working available.

About You

You will have significant experience of working in a higher education quality management role, and understanding of current quality assurance, management, compliance requirements and enhancement processes within the HE sector. In particular, you will have extensive experience of operating quality assurance systems, especially those relating to higher education, and of operating with review and audit activities and processes, leading on projects and developing policy and systems. You will have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, an ability to engage others and a proactive approach, together with a willingness to travel nationally and internationally to represent the University on quality-related business.

The successful candidate will be expected to form strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the University and be an authoritative point of contact on quality assurance to ensure policies and processes are implemented effectively.
