Our Award winning brand, moneyboat.co.uk offers short term, direct lender loans from £200 - £1,500 for up to six months, and practices industry-leading transparency, flexibility and responsible lending.
Role Overview:
- To support all compliance-related matters within MoneyBoat to aid compliance with current regulatory requirements, internal policies and procedures.
- To support a top down customer centric culture including the loan product and any other key products and procedures.
- To help MoneyBoat embed well-controlled and established policies and procedures that meet the vision and values of MoneyBoat, with a key focus on Treating Customers Fairly, customer outcomes, and Conduct Risk.
- The Compliance Officer will deputise for the Head of Compliance when required.
Compliance Officer Role Content:
This Job Description will be subject to review in the light of changing circumstances and is not intended to be rigid and inflexible, but should be regarded as providing guidelines within which the individual works. Other duties of a similar nature and appropriate to the grade may be assigned from time to time as and when required.
- Assisting with drafting and reviewing internal policies, procedures, marketing material, financial promotions, due diligence documents and customer communications in order to meet new/updated regulations/legislation and maintain internal requirements. Obtaining the relevant approval followed by implementation and rollout to the business.
- Undertake internal reviews and scheduled compliance audits at agreed frequencies, implementing actions and improvement plans and investigating non-compliant behaviour.
- Investigating and responding to credit file disputes, data deletion requests and fraud investigations as part of first line operational responsibilities.
- Compliance Monitoring includes call monitoring, business unit/thematic/desk-based reviews, scheduled audits and reporting.
- Identifying potential or actual conduct and compliance risks and ensuring remediation and mitigation to manage risks back within appetite, raising issues to relevant management.
- Drive a regulatory compliance culture to improve business performance and awareness.
- Collating and reviewing key compliance metrics for presentation to Leadership Team on an ongoing basis. Providing ad-hoc advice and guidance to company staff and agents in compliance and internal policy matters.
- Review and update of regulatory and compliance training across the business including, but not limited to Treating Customers Fairly and Vulnerable Customers.
- Day-to-day assistance with the Compliance and Operational Risk Framework.
- Horizon scanning to ensure changes to regulations, rules, and guidance are identified and acted upon. Working with the business (primarily the Project Management Team) to assist in implementing those changes.
Relationships:
- Internal: all departments, staff, senior managers and relevant business groups across MoneyBoat including Bromley, Georgia, South Africa, and Israel sites.
- External: involvement with third parties, business partners, affiliates, consumer groups, trade bodies, fraud prevention agencies, Credit Reference Agencies and regulators.
Essential skills and experience:
- Demonstrable experience working within a compliance officer role, either in an advisory or monitoring capacity.
- Current or very recent experience of working within a regulated financial services environment,
- Good understanding of regulations, including but not limited to the FCA Handbook, Consumer Credit Act, GDPR, and Conduct Rules.
- Confident and articulate communicator, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to act on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Organised, methodical, diligent and able to work to tight deadlines.
Desirable skills and experience:
- Working knowledge of credit files and credit reporting obligations.
- First and third party fraud investigations and fraud reporting requirements.
- A specialism in a particular area would be highly desirable such as Treating Customers Fairly, Conduct Risk, management of vulnerable customers, GDPR compliance, Breathing Space/forbearance options, Debt Respite Schemes, SM&CR, anti-money laundering, or FCA Consumer Duty.
- Standard IT packages e.g. Microsoft, Google and loan management systems.
Working Conditions:
- Full time.
- Monday to Friday 08:00 - 17:00.
- Hybrid role working remotely and Bromley office.
- Flexibility is required depending on workload and departmental commitments.
