Based in Pontyclun South Wales Concrete Canvas is the market leader in the manufacture and supply of flexible concrete. Concrete Canvas® and CC Hydro™ are used in projects all over the world for a range of applications.
Position: You will be responsible for promoting a positive health and safety culture and ensure Concrete Canvas is compliant with current legislation, by creating systems, procedures, and key performance indicators.
Expected Tasks:
- To comply and ensure the compliance with our Company Policies.
- Develop & implement the health & safety strategy within the business.
- Develop, maintain & train all staff in health & safety (with a focus on Manual Handling, Work At Height & Fire Safety).
- Ensure Contractor competence.
- Complete new Staff inductions/Contractor inductions.
- Conduct annual review of health & safety policy with the Directors.
- Conduct annual review of all risk assessments.
- Lead investigation and route cause analysis of accident/near miss reporting, ensuring the implementation of corrective actions.
- Chair the Concrete Canvas monthly Health & Safety Meetings.
- Present the relevant section at weekly Production Management Meetings.
- Work with our external health & safety consultants to ensure compliance and site safety.
- Liaise with the Maintenance/Engineering Manager for onsite maintenance, safety & cleanliness of site & equipment.
- Liaise with the Production Manager to minimise logistics and operations risks.
- Ensure actions from hazard reports are completed & signed off.
- Ensure senior management team is up to date with all current health & safety legislation changes and advice.
- Update SOP’s and company forms wherever necessary or requested within our ISO system.
- Monitor in-house and external training of FLT/Stacker/Combi Trucks/MEWP.
- Ensure training compliance (First Aid, Fire Wardens, Spreader Attachments)
- Monitor and advise on air quality/dust control.
- Ensure the Company health surveillance programme is kept up to date.
- Assist and encourage our continuous improvement projects.
- Complete documented checks of extinguishers.
- Complete the onsite legionella/fall arrest/sling/hoist checks.
- Oversee all manufacturing tasks in respect of H&S.
- Support to Design Engineering for Machinery Safety Compliance including CE marking and Design Risk Assessments.
- Ensure environmental compliance and statutory compliance including the auditing of Fall Arrest, Ladders, LOLER, PUWER, LEV, PSSR, Gas, and Electrical Safety.
- Support our ISO 9001 and 14001 compliance and development.
- Maintain your CPD through either IIRSM or IOSH membership.
- Maintain continuous improvement of all safety and compliance processes within the Concrete Canvas Group Ltd companies.
Work experience requirements:
Health & safety or similar equivalent diploma.
5+ Years previous experience working in a manufacturing environment.
ISO9001 & ISO45001 experience preferred.
Experience of presentation at Board level.
Skills:
Upbeat positive attitude.
Ability to work on own initiative as well as in a team.
Good communication skills at every level.
To be able to work to tight deadlines.
Education Requirements:
Good standard of Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word and Excel.
NEBOSH National General Certificate, Safety Degree, or Level 5 in Occupational Health & Safety.
Schedule:
- Day shift (may vary for operational needs)
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability from time to time
Experience:
- Health and Safety: 5+ years (required)
- Manufacturing/Engineering: 5+ years (required)
Licence/Certification:
- NEBOSH or equivalent diploma (required)
- MIIRSM and/or GradIOSH (required)
