Renewable Energy Trading & Optimisation Compliance Advisory Lead
Centrica Energy Marketing & Trading (EM&T) is the trading arm of Centrica. We trade LNG, gas, power and energy attributes - and connect independent producers, suppliers and corporate off-takers in the wholesale energy markets. We move and trade energy to satisfy the changing needs of customers.

As our business sets up for further growth, we are looking for a Renewable Energy Trading & Optimisation Compliance Advisory Lead to join our Market Advisory team. The Market Advisory team is a rapidly developing part of Centrica’s Energy Marketing & Trading’s wider Ethics & Compliance (E&C) function who are responsible for an effective framework which manages our risks related to market abuse, financial market regulation, market operator and exchange/ venue rule compliance.
As a Renewable Energy Trading & Optimisation Compliance Advisory Lead, you’ll be responsible for managing the compliance programme and delivering complex compliance advice to the Renewable Energy Trading and Optimisation business. This business operates under a high degree of regulatory scrutiny from regulators, exchanges and Transmission system operators in the wholesale energy markets, therefore strong knowledge of areas such as REMIT, MAR, Market operators (including Transmission System Operators) and exchange/trading venue rules is essential.
This role has a high degree of exposure to senior management within the Renewable Energy Trading and Optimisation business and direct line management responsibilities.
Location: This role can be based out of our London, Aalborg or Copenhagen offices, however, the successful candidate must be comfortable with international travel (circa 30%).
About the Role:
Lead the management and administration of the compliance programme for the Renewable Energy Trading & Optimisation business
Act as the lead compliance advisory contact to the Renewable Energy Trading and Optimisation business covering:
Application of EM&T Compliance Policies, Guidelines and Procedures
Application of transmission System Operator, trading venue and exchange rules including balancing markets, ancillary services, block trades and position/expiry limits
Communications compliance including analysis of potential inside & confidential information
Suspicious activity and transaction/order analysis and reporting
Developing and delivering scenario-based compliance training
Perform annual risk assessments in conjunction with the Surveillance and Monitoring team
Implement regulatory change in conjunction with Centrica’s Market Regulatory team
About You:
Demonstrable experience in a compliance role in a wholesale trading environment
Good understanding of the global commodities market conduct framework with a particular focus on European Power & Gas including key regulations (REMIT, MAR, MiFID II, EMIR) and TSO and exchange/trading venue rules
Experience of responding to request for information from regulators and exchange/trading venues
Proven experience of delivery through others
