Our client, a well known and growing company based in Sutton are recruiting for a payroll officer to join their accountancy on a temporary basis for approximately 9 months.
Job Description
Payroll Officer - Key Responsibilities
- Accurately input all data into the Payroll system ensuring all gross payments and other deductions are correctly set up and calculated in accordance with statutory and contractual requirements.
- Accurately input regular/ad-hoc payroll adjustments and deductions by the required deadlines.
- Accurately calculate Statutory and Occupational Sickness and Parental Pay.
- Processing PAYE Deductions and sending payroll information to HM Revenue and Customs.
- Complete any required statutory forms within the required time frame in accordance with HMRC Guidelines.
- Distributing forms such as P45, P60 and P11d.
- Mathematical skills for calculating employee's final payments by the contractual pay date following the employee's last day of service. Calculate and process emergency manual payments as required.
- Calculate Gross and Net over payments and recover/notify HR as necessary.
- Check and validate the results of provisional payroll runs with reference to exception reports, and taking appropriate remedial actions to achieve accurate final payslips.
- Contribute to identifying payroll errors and implementing corrective action where required to ensure employee payments are processed accurately and database integrity is maintained.
- Provide a responsive, accurate client service on all payroll matters. Apply guidance and own payroll knowledge and skills to resolve enquiries received on a regular basis.
- Provide and promote service excellence and foster effective teamwork and business relationships.
- Providing help and guidance to all departments within the trust for any complex problems and issues, Identify, calculate and make the necessary decision collaborating with Senior
- Payroll Officers and Head of Payroll and Pensions to resolve.
- Liaising and collaborating with Human Resources to maintain employee data and conditions
- of service.
- Provide payroll reporting to meet internal and other legislative statutory obligations as requested and liaising with 3rd parties where needed.
- Processing Annual increases and calculation of back pay.
- Month end processing including posting nominal journals into finance system and responsible for balance sheet reconciliation of payroll controls.
- Administration of all company pension schemes including auto enrolment process.
- Monthly reporting and maintenance of all company pension schemes, dealing with and resolving any queries when needed.
- Full Tax Year End and start of New Tax Year processing in accordance with HM Revenueand Customs legislation.
- Pension Annual Reporting and reconciling annual reports to be submitted to each fund inaccordance with the required guidance.
