DEBRA have an exciting new opportunity, not to be missed! We are currently looking for an Community Support Team Leader to join our friendly team in Nottingham. Working from home, full time 35 hours per week with occasional attendance to the DEBRA Head Office in Bracknell, Berkshire and our Hospital Clinics as required for training/team meetings. Occasional out of hours work.We are offering a competitive salary, rewards & benefits of up to £35,000 per annum depending on experience.

The Role

The purpose of this role is to provide a community support and advocacy service to people whose lives are affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) through effective communication and liaison with all sections of the community and other stakeholders. To develop good multidisciplinary teamworking with local services and stakeholders. To be a resource to the EB community and DEBRA team on a subject of an area of special interested to be agreed, e.g., Welfare Benefits. EB specific training will be provided to help the successful candidate understand the condition.

Reporting to the National Manager this post will cover the Nottingham and Northern England area and the majority of your time will be visiting families in their homes or at hospital clinics, providing support and an advocacy service. This will be where your knowledge of the welfare system and other benefits will be key to providing support.

  • To undertake line management responsibility for a team of Community Support Team Managers: Including, caseload and project management, priority setting and project planning, regular one to ones, supervisions, reviews and appraisals.
  • To deputise for the national manager or other CST team leader as required.
  • To assist in the management of DEBRA Support Grants.
  • To be the Community Support Team service and liaison link to BWCH/SH leading on the development of CST MDT working with these centres whilst working in collaboration with the CST Service link for GOSH and the associated EB Centres to enhance a national and cohesive CST service.
  • To promote and ensure that a collaborative and positive approach is taken to working as part of the wider MDT and with other stakeholders and agencies to ensure that members are supported holistically.
  • To ensure efficient use of resource in the provision of community support: assist in the development of the hybrid approach of remote and face to face working, empower the EB community by providing information and sign posting, the implementation of new CST initiatives and projects to enhance and develop the service.
  • To work collaboratively with other CST Team leader(S) and the National Manager to ensure consistency in management approach, caseload and project management, with the ability to deputise as required.
  • To establish own areas of specialist interest and facilitate team members to develop areas of special interest keeping up to date and sharing knowledge/ resources with colleagues and members as appropriate.
  • To ensure appropriate and robust record keeping is maintained and audited.
  • To assist in the development and auditing of policy and procedures as required.
  • To identify and address training and development needs of the team ensure the team have professional development plans
  • To regularly review key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure they reflect current practice and are designed to promote development and improve service provision.
  • To produce reports on the caseload and activities undertaken by the team
  • To represent DEBRA positively and advocate on behalf of our members.
