Brand Communications & Patient Relations Manager

Objective
Lead, shape and execute multi-stakeholder Brand Communications and Patient Relations strategies in full alignment with AbbVie brand and corporate objectives, integrated with the External Affairs team, with a focus on positively shaping the environment to support patient access to medicines, building AbbVie’s external profile with relevant stakeholders and delivering our business priorities
Highlighted responsibilities:
- Design and lead assigned strategic communications programmes to support assigned therapy areas and AbbVie Business Priorities, including leveraging brand positioning data, developing key messages and stories to build the media profile
- Drive development of content and implementation of business aligned, multi-channel content management strategies across traditional, digital, social media and non-media channels (as allowed within ABPI Code)
- Work across the External Affairs team to deliver impactful integrated strategies, compliantly delivering plans suitable to multiple audiences that make a valuable contribution to healthcare delivery, create consensus and demonstrate AbbVie’s commitment
- Establish trusted business relationships with key health, science and social affairs journalists
- Set overall strategy and develop plans for company interaction with PAGs based on ongoing mapping and understanding of their goals
- Anticipate communication and patient group trends, bringing these insights to the business and challenging thinking, finding opportunities to improve delivery
- Working across the External Affairs team and specifically with corporate communication colleagues, ensure aligned, timely and well delivered internal communications, owning the development of content you are responsible for and helping to deliver across multiple channels to inspire confidence and understanding across the organisation
- Previous relevant company or PR experience in either pharmaceutical product communications or working for a patient / health related charity
- Experience of developing and implementing patient relations and integrated communications strategies across multiple channels
- Demonstrated success in the management of large-scale communication campaigns and the influencing of external relationships
- Knowledge of the UK health care system, including the National Health Service, Department of Health and Devolved Nations issues
- Demonstrated experience in building relationships with patient organisations, the patient advocacy community and journalists
- Competencies in managing integrated multi-stakeholder and multi-channel programmes
