Job Duties & Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; college coursework in education/ youth development, preferred.
EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
Experience working in educational, social service, or family support service settings. Experience working with families that have diverse cultures and economic backgrounds. Experience collaborating with community agencies and general awareness of community resources.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Hand-eye/mind-eye coordination, hearing; intermittent filing, grasping, holding, indexing, inserting, keyboarding, repetitive use of wrists, hands and fingers, opening, reaching, removing, scheduling, sitting, sorting, speaking, stamping, standing, stapling, stooping, typing, walking, and writing.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be adaptable to meet the needs of the families in the program in addition to working flexible hours to accommodate work in the evening.
Essential Functions & Duties
The Family Engagement Specialist gathers information, develops resources, and provides ongoing, educational programs to students, immediate family members, and guardians of students enrolled in the CLC.

This position will primarily work Monday through Friday. Evening hours may be required to meet the needs of program families.

The Family Engagement Specialist gathers information, develops resources, and provides ongoing, educational programs to students, immediate family members, and guardians of students enrolled in the CLC.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement the CLC's Family and Community Engagement Programs.
- Work closely with the Sioux Falls School District, Lead Agencies, and community partners under the CLC model.
- Establish and maintain relationships with students, families, staff, agencies, and appropriate community partners.
- Develop a strategic plan to coordinate family and community events, enrichment activities, and skill development opportunities.
- Collaborate with Connections Coordinators to identify needs and plan activities related to family engagement.
- Collaborate with community partners to provide opportunities to meet family needs.
- Informs families who could benefit from needed assistance of community resource options.
- Aid in the promotion of family events and activities coordinated by Sioux Falls School District, Lead Agencies, and community partners.
- Maintain records of all parent and family engagement activities, reports, surveys, and evaluations.
- Develop, participate, collect data, and generate a report from the Annual Family Engagement Sessions.
- Assist with the coordination and development of policies and procedures as it relates to CLC Family and Community engagement.
- Provide a quarterly report on student success indicators.
- Take part in opportunities for professional development at the local, regional, and/or state level; attend local meetings and training for parent involvement activities; share ideas and experiences with school or district staff, leadership team, and/or other parent professionals.
- Perform any and all duties as assigned.
- Successfully advances CLC initiatives.
