As a Community Engagement Assistant, you will assist with the delivery of the Port’s Community Programme, including administration of funding requests, coordination of the Community Fund and other community events such as WAVE and Under the Bridge. You will also provide administration support to the PR & Communications Team and other internal departments as required.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILTIES
· Assist with the delivery of the Port’s Community Programme, including Under the Bridge, WAVE and other community outreach activities.
· Administration of the Community Fund and Green Energy Fund including collating applications, arranging meetings, taking minutes, arranging payments.
· Record and report on Community Investment activity.
· Represent the Port at community events.
· Act as the main contact for the Port Charity and organise fundraising activities.
· Financial record keeping.
· To provide general administration support - general typing, photocopying, organisation of meetings/events and minute taking.
· Assist with coordination of Port visits and events – booking venues, arranging catering, managing invitation lists etc.
· Market research as required using up to date techniques.
· Other duties of a similar level as required.
RISK MANAGEMENT
· Be alert to all possible risks, raising any concerns and reporting events through the Assurance Framework.
· Be familiar with and adhere to all relevant company Policies, Procedures and Local Work Instructions.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
· Excellent communication skills
- Strong writing skills with the ability to adapt to suit a variety of mediums.
- Oral skills with excellent telephone and customer care skills.
· Strong IT skills – particularly in Microsoft 365 package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
· Good organisational skills, coupled with a high degree of accuracy.
· Must be flexible and able to work on own initiative.
· Ability to work under pressure and consistently meet deadlines.
· Ability to work as team member.
· A driving licence and access to own transport.
Desirable:
· Public Relations, Journalism, or marketing qualification.
· Interest in PR.
· An interest in corporate social responsibility.
· Experience of working with young people.
