Opportunity Overview As part of The University of Salford's new innovation strategy, we now have an exciting opportunity for a proactive Community Engagement Manager to join the Media City Immersive Technologies Innovation Hub (MITIH). The new strategy for innovation, which sets out its ambitions for research and enterprise and progresses its strategic priority to deliver Industry-led research solutions through collaborative working. This strategy supports our plans to grow industry engagement and income, enhance the student experience, develop critical mass in areas of world class research, produce real-world impacts, and develop a vibrant community of high-quality researcher and enterprise leaders. Aligned with our strategy, we have collaborated with partners at MediaCity and secured Innovate UK funding as part of the Innovation Accelerator pilot programme to further develop research and enterprise in the area of immersive technologies, gametech, and virtual production. Through this funding the partners will establish MITIH, strengthening GM's Digital & Creative economy, supporting GM's frontier sectors, and seizing opportunities in the metaverse. Key Responsibilities The role will focus on designing and delivering a programme of engagement with the MediaCity, Salford and wider Greater Manchester (GM) communities to orchestrate stakeholder involvement in a vibrant programme of activities associated with the MITIH innovation programme. This will consist of regular engagement with local businesses (e.g. BBC, ITV, dock10, numerous SMEs, Lowry and other private sector partners) to establish a strong innovation community within MediaCity. Specific responsibilities will include event production along with tracking, monitoring and evaluating the programme's engagement progress. A bit about Research and Enterprise… Research and Enterprise is made up of 8+ specialist teams, mostly based on the 8th floor of the Maxwell Building. Reporting to Prof Karl Dayson, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Enterprise, we have six main goals: Support and encourage the development of world-leading research and enterprise through taking ownership of the University's Innovation Strategy and aligning our activities to its vision and the Industry Collaboration agenda; Provide targeted training and development for our people to progress in their careers, aligned to the vision of the Innovation Strategy; Be proficient in the management of data and processes, using an evidence-based approach to strategically focus our activities and resources; Promote awareness of the University's research and enterprise successes through effective communication to both internal and external audiences; Support the translation of our research to create economic, social and environmental impact; Promote equality and diversity for students and staff and sustain an inclusive and supportive study and work environment.
