About the role

Derbyshire County Council have an exciting opportunity for a caring and determined Community Care Worker to join our Buxton & Dales Social Work team based in the High Peak & North Dales locality. This role offers progression and development, excellent benefits, and the opportunity to use your skills and experience to genuinely improve outcomes for children and young people.

The position is within a busy social work team with an experienced and committed group of colleagues, supported by a highly competent Practice Supervisor and experienced Team Manager.

We are looking for motivated and dedicated applicants who can demonstrate a passion for working with vulnerable individuals within society and making a difference to children and families.

What will you be doing?

The role involves a range of tasks linked to social work practice in the locality including.

  • Parenting assessments
  • Supporting family time
  • Direct work with children
  • Supporting plans for children and families.
  • Engaging with other agencies and partner organisations

What skills and experience do you need?


  • NVQ Level 3 in Care or equivalent, or willing to work towards once in post (refer to job and person profile for more information).
  • Experience of creating rapport and building effective relationships with families.
  • Knowledge of Child Protection, child development and parenting abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent assessment and IT skills.
