Your New Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Community and Communications Manager to join our Trafford Account, supporting our Transport Infrastructure Business Unit in Manchester, Trafford. This is a permanent position that will offer hybrid working.
The salary is up to £42,000 dependent on experience.
Amey is working in partnership with Trafford Council to deliver a wide range of Environmental and
Infrastructure Services. Trafford currently ranks in the top 10 boroughs in England for recycling 61.3% of its waste which is recyclable.
Our waste collection teams ensure waste is collected from 97,000 households as well as commercial businesses within the Trafford borough.
Our street cleansing teams work hard to keep our streets looking great, emptying over 1,600 litter bins. As well as our grounds maintenance teams who are responsible for managing and maintaining 37 parks and green spaces across the borough.
By combining these services, we can support the council with efficiency savings alongside ensuring a high-quality service is delivered to residents. The purpose of the role is to:
- Support new business development opportunities
- Managing a team of 4x Comms Advisors
- Deliver appropriate employee communications that compliment the corporate comms
- Promote the division externally through the media and events
- Support operational communications needs including mobilisation and campaigns
The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week based on Monday – Friday.

You will be responsible for:
- Supporting the delivery of the comms, marketing strategy and plans for the divisions that take into accounts the comms support for bids and new business opportunities
- Working closely with the bid teams to ensure relevant marketing and comms submissions are included in the bids
- Analysing and interpreting employee requirements, assisting with designing communications to support these
- Support content for central channels such as Hub, Cascade and AmeyWorld
- Prepare relevant content for the Hub
- Delivering communications requirements for key projects – i.e. planning applications,
- consultation and mobilisations
- Overseeing communications with employees, the public and the client
We want to hear from you if you have:
- Extensive experience in a similar Communications role
- Ideally Local Authority experience
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- People management experience
Ideally you will have a professional qualification relating to Comms or Marketing, however this is non-essential. You will have strong analytical skills and excellent writing skills and have the ability to think outside the box.
In addition to this, it would be desirable if you had experience in mobilisations and contract wins to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.
