About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and fully bilingual Communications Officer to join the WLGA’s communications team.

You will be experienced in operating in communications, a press office environment or journalism, including drafting bilingual copy, and have a good awareness of public services and political sensitivity. Working closely with the Communications and Public Affairs Manager, you will support senior officers and the WLGA political leadership to help promote the interests of Welsh local government.

You will be able to demonstrate experience of managing and developing good relations with key press and media contacts, and of writing compelling Welsh and English copy to a high standard across various channels. You will be responsible for overseeing and developing social media channels and will have a keen eye for creating impactful and engaging content.

We will expect you to be proactive and to be equally as comfortable working independently or as part of a team. You will liaise closely and regularly with leaders and senior elected members within the WLGA, providing advice and guidance with confidence and developing trusted relationships across the political spectrum.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-profile political organisation at the heart of Welsh governance. If you are interested, we would like to hear from you.
