University of Bristol
Full Time Bristol, England 31411 - 35333 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

The role

The Digital Strategy Communications team is looking for a Communications Officer to help deliver tailored messaging and campaigns to our staff and student communities. The role involves developing compelling written and visual content for use on University-owned channels and creating and delivering campaigns to engage staff and students so we can help colleagues understand the projects within our strategy and the benefits they will bring to our community.

What will you be doing?

You’ll be happy creating content relevant to staff and students – with excellent written skills and an eye for engaging our audiences – and liaising with colleagues and suppliers to ensure our content is compelling and authentic.

You will work with Project Managers to develop communication plans and lead on engaging with the university around the changes being implemented. You will work with colleagues in IT as well as those across the University to bring awareness and to develop user focussed messages.

You’ll help us to evaluate the success of our projects, using analytics and user research, and will provide editorial support for key internal communications like our monthly Student Newsletters and weekly Staff Bulletin.

You should apply if

You’ll be experienced in planning and delivery communications campaigns, taking ideas from brief to evaluation. You have excellent copywriting and editorial skills, able to adapt your style to the needs of the audience. You’re confident in updating websites and SharePoint and using social media channels in a professional context, and have excellent IT skills, including, ideally, knowledge of specialist software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite). You understand the design and production process, and are confident briefing external suppliers (e.g. designers, photographers, film-makers). You have an excellent eye for detail, able to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines. You're also keen on data – using web and social media insights and user research to evaluate success of campaigns and incorporate lessons into best practice. You’re able to work independently, but also are happy to be part of a small, friendly and busy team.
