This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Communications team in a creative and busy External Affairs Directorate which also delivers Marketing, Membership, Fundraising and Business Development at pace, focussed on beating its targets.
It`s a varied role designing and project managing media engagement and stakeholder communications campaigns and events in order to build the reputation of the WEA and engage the media, students, employees, members and public affairs stakeholders.
You`ll be hands on writing copy, sourcing images, working in content management systems and mass email tools, connecting with journalists, engaging with students, members and employers to capture case studies. And it won`t faze you that there`s hard graft in database entry, budget spreadsheets and reporting.
You will just love being so creative and productive and results focussed, supported by a buzzing and friendly team, and appreciated by a leadership team who are involved in your work.

As a Communications Officer, you should have:
- Strong copy writer skills that can turn their hand to media releases, news stories, social media posts, as well as longer form copy for leaflets and brochures, flexing style to the audience, but always concise, impactful and engaging;
- Knowledge on how to run campaigns, events and projects to time, brief and budget and to flex around multiple projects and jump on new opportunities. You are super-organised, understanding what you need from whom when and how;
- Great with people, with a track record of excellent customer-service and strong relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders such as media contacts, students or customers;
- A strong team work ethic. We like to collaborate and support each other;
- A passion for adult education, and making a difference!
