You will attract a salary of £45,000.00 and a bonus of 7.5%

UK Power Networks is looking for an motivated Communications Officer to show how we keep the power flowing to 8.4million homes and businesses across London, the South East and East of England.
Through this important role you'll tell our story through compelling narrative to engage the media and public, and build and safeguard our reputation.
You could write about our work to support local sport teams or coordinating filming at an industry conference. From showcasing the world's biggest commercial electric vehicle trial, to looking after people living in vulnerable customers during a power cut, every day is different.
Principal responsibilities
Collaborate with business leads to create multi-media content that engages customers and important partners. This will include content for press releases, media briefings, website, social media, staff emagazine and award entries
Edit and proof-read corporate communications, demonstrating accuracy and editorial judgement
Build beneficial relationships with journalists and respond to media enquiries
Major incident response – availability 24/7 for occasional major incidents and storm response when needed
Primary responsibility for London patch with regular site visits, but expected to work across East and South East when needed
Skills
You will deal with complex issues and distil main points into creatively compelling narratives that grab the audience's attention
Digital skills such as photographic experience or video production would be valued
At ease with deadlines
You will be educated to degree level or relevant professional qualifications such as NCTJ, NCE, CIPR, CIM or equivalent
Experience
Two years' experience in a press office/communications role
Experience creating and delivering high quality content for the media, including liaison with national titles. You will be asked for examples at interview
Good understanding and prior use of social media
A detailed knowledge of the electricity industry isn't required, but the ability to quickly grasp complex subjects and turn them into stories that engage audiences is.
