Hybrid – London | £38k-£42k per annum

Earlier this year, they secured a landmark legislative change and next year you’ll be helping them launch a major new policy initiative. You will play a key role in growing membership, and engaging and influencing a range of audiences.

Key areas will include:
Communicating with existing and potential members
- Lead on implementation of the communications element of our membership recruitment and retention campaigns. This includes collaborating with the team to draft online and offline content; devising new methods to reach potential members and compel existing members to renew.
- Draft copy for the member magazine; and other member communications including e-bulletins and the website.
- Work alongside the Marketing Manager on campaigns to promote products and services, with a particular focus on training and learning.
- Identify opportunities and draft copy for other organisations’ publications.
- Create targeted member communications for different segments for example, via our e-bulletins.
Leading on media activity
- With a focus on generating positive, proactive and reactive media coverage for the organisation and its members.
- Draft and issue press releases and pitch stories to journalists.
- Monitor and communicate media coverage.
- Respond to day-to-day media enquiries.
- Develop template materials for Regional Press Officers to issue in their area.
- Maintain and update the media contacts database.
Delivering other communications activity
- Lead the development, commissioning and authoring of digital content including website and social media.
- Deliver strategic plans, leading and assisting with key communications activity.
- Develop a range of tools to measure the success of our engagement with members, government and the public.
Engaging external audiences
- Lead on the drafting and issuing of Parliamentary and political briefings on specific issues and areas of interest, alongside the policy team.
- Promote key policy asks to Parliamentary, political, and other external audiences.
- Have communication with external stakeholders, including facilitating and participating in meetings with partner organisations.
Person specification
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, concise briefings, letters, press releases and other documents.
- A proven track record of developing and implementing targeted communications to convey key messages.
- Experience of using digital and social media to communicate with a range of audiences.
- Experience of public relations and knowledge of online, print and broadcast media.
- A willingness to collaborate, working closely within a small, friendly team.
