Fixed-term - 3 months - 7 hours per week for 15 weeks from September to January (start date negotiable)
We are hiring a Communications Intern to work in our communications team at Edinburgh Global. The successful candidate will support a specific communications project; the annual Student Photography Competition and Exhibition. The focus will be on the administration and promotion of the competition, including monitoring entries, and creating assets and posts for digital publication. The successful candidate may also complete similar communications tasks for other projects as required. You will be expected to work on campus in the central area for some of the role.
The Opportunity:
The successful candidate will work (with mentorship from the Senior Communications Assistant) to:
- Monitor and administer competition entries.
- Create digital assets to promote the competition and exhibition; using Facebook, Instagram, and other digital channels.
- Prepare social media posts for publishing (i.e. produce, proof, and schedule content)
- Undertake other appropriate duties in relation to other Communications projects as directed by the line manager.
- Prioritise own workload using project management software with support from colleagues in the team.
- Liaise with Edinburgh Global staff; share and receive project information.
- Develop skills and undertake training as needed for the role.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- Educated to at least Higher, SVQ 2/3, National Certificate or equivalent level, with relevant work experience.
- Professional IT skills: MS Office, and familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud or other creative software.
- Ability to work in a team and independently, working to deadlines and adhering to brand and house style.
- Good understanding of social media, including writing copy, and preparing, scheduling and proofing content/posts.
- Good personal communication skills; able to listen and understand the needs of projects, able to be clear and concise in written and verbal communications.
